Breast reduction, also known as Reduction Mammoplasty, surgically reduces and reshapes the size of overly large breasts.
Breast reduction is appropriate to balance your body proportions or to help with health problems caused by breasts that are too large, putting stress on the neck, shoulders and back.
Dr. Herman is an expert in all the different procedures available to reduce your breasts. Incisions are generally placed
inconspicuously around the nipple and areola, and most cases a vertical incision from the nipple to the breast crease is required. In some cases, an incision in the breast crease is also necessary to achieve the desired results.
A breast reduction is performed under general anesthesia usually as an outpatient procedure.
Recovery depends on the extent of your breast reduction. You can return to light activities within a day or two, and full activities within 1-2 weeks.
Results can be long-term, but weight loss/gain, future pregnancy, or natural aging may alter your appearance.
